Darragh MacAnthony gives a surprise presentation at Stetson University

A student at Stetson University in Florida was the lucky recipient of an iPad2 by Darragh MacAnthony yesterday. The surprise presentation to the student was organized with the help of the professors and faculty members at the university.

The student was nominated for the award through the educational initiative Darragh MacAnthony School Tools which was launched by the Peterborough United soccer club Chairman during the summer. The scheme offers support to students who require tools to further and nurture their education. Darragh MacAnthony personally selected the student from a pool of just over one thousand students who contacted him through his Darragh MacAnthony School Tools website.

The presentation of the iPad2 came as a surprise to all students including the selected student Ariel, who was unaware that her mother had nominated her for the School Tool. Ariel is an outstanding student both academically and musically. She was named as one of the Outstanding Freshman’s of the Year at Stetson University last year. Speaking about Ariel, MacAnthony said, “She is a stand-out student and somebody who is well respected by her peers and faculty members.” He continued by saying, ”she is a talented musician and has a great future, and I am looking forward to seeing Ariel excel even further in her field.”

The Darragh MacAnthony School Tools initiative is available to students worldwide. The team behind the project, led by Darragh MacAnthony, has seen a huge interest from students all across Florida due to the recognition MacAnthony receives in the sunshine state for his community involvement. When asked about receiving nominations from students worldwide he said, “Of course we would love to receive more nominations globally. But this is only the beginning and my team are seeing a building interest in the initiative daily. I welcome students from every country to get involved, I  want to hear their story and provide support that will allow them achieve their goals. Sometimes it just takes one person to believe in you and recognize your ability to encourage you to reach your full potential. That is the philosophy behind my School Tools project.”
